it's not easy being green

after all, it is independence day...

our founding fathers fought for it. our biblical fathers fought for it. our teenage selves fought for it. independence, like love, is a wonderful thing (cue: song). yet, the bible teaches one type of dependence that is unarguably good and necessary. a dear sister reminded me of the promises of one who is dependent on the Lord - "She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come." - Proverbs 31:25

i decided to skip out on my roommate's rooftop bbq today. i hate to say no to people; but after all, it's independence day*.
