Jesus You Alone
Jesus, You alone shall be my first love,my first love.
The secret place and highest praise
shall be yours, shall be yours.
To Your throne I'll bring devotion,
May it be the sweetest sound
Lord, this heart is reaching for You now.
Day and night I lift my eyes to seek You,
to seek You.
Hungry for a glimpse of You in glory,
in glory.
So I'll set my sights upon You,
Set my life upon Your praise;
Never looking to another way.
You alone will be my passion,
Jesus, You will be my song.
You will find me longing after You.
there is nothing better than to be reminded that the reason we live is because we do have a first love, Jesus, whose seat in our heart's throne cannot be filled by any other man. the other day, william reminded me that we've known each other for 10 years now. that's pretty scary. i vaguely remember us joking that we'd marry each other at 28, if we were both single. that was so that we'd get the hell out there and find the love of our lives, quick! and plus, 28 seems like a long time when you're 18. thinking back to those angst-filled days, i find that indeed much has changed. those were the days when we were filled with too much energy for life and love. every emotion, every belief, we held onto as strongly as our little hearts could keep from bursting. those were times when untimely deaths of teen idols, spokepersons-of-a-generation, or even one's own peers, may have caused one to wonder - is suicide for the weak, or for the brave minds who cannot bear the realization that ideals have no place in this world? the most alarming finding not being the world's hypocrisy, but your own - and oh! how well you are able to thrive on that with a clear conscience. those of us who survive that decade come to terms with the world through cynicism. but i find that those of us who survive that decade by growing in Christ come to terms with the world through hope. hope that His kingdom is being built on earth. and in His kingdom, ideals live; in His kingdom, true love exists.
